Description/Abstract:
Personnel from the Chemical Corps conducted special tests in the "T" Building during the week beginning October 8. These tests necessitated some changes in the ventilating systems, but no unusual contamination levels were encountered. Several people from the Health Physics Section participated in these tests, acting under the direction of the Chemical Corps personnel. The area previously used by the incinerator pilot plant has been thoroughly decontaminated. It is now ready for use by the bismuth recovery project. The training classes for health surveyors were started on October 11. These classes will be held on a weekly basis until the material presented in the training manual has been covered. Several meetings have been held with members of the Research Division assigned to the actinium work. The type of permanent monitoring equipment to be used in the "cave" area has been decided upon and such equipment is on order.
