Description/Abstract:
In response to Col. G. M. Anderson's telephone request of 2-1-57, Messrs J. Wetch and H. Dieckamp presented a cost estimate of the complete SPPP development program in Washington D.C. on 3-28-57. Program costs for each 6-month period of Fiscal years 1959, 1960, and 1961, based upon the first flight test in October 1961, were presented. Similar cost estimates for an alternate program which assumed first ground demonstrations power tests in 1960 and flight test in 1964 were also presented. Program facilities requirements were outlined and estimated facility costs were given. The relationship between program schedule and facility availability was emphasized. In accordance with the requests of the Aircraft Reactors Branch, RDD, facility planning in proceeding to provide an adequate facility which will accommodate the anticipated development program. Although not specifically proposed, program hot cell requirements were also outlined.
