Moving of the traffic belt in the working zone of the Frimmersdorf opencast mine. [3 refs]

Abstract

The traffic belt, comprising a public road, a railway line of the Federal German railways and a river, the Erft, had to be moved to exploit the Frimmersdorf-Sued opencast mine still further. Some years ago the River Erft had been rerouted in a series of operations. Now the final location of the traffic belt was to follow to the east on the overburden dump behind the opencast mine. After describing the construction engineering plans for the complete project the authors describe the planning sequence, how approval was obtained and construction procedure. Finally, brief mention is made of the landscaping.
