Abstract
The X-ray electron spectral analysis was employed to study energy states of ions of oxygen, zirconium and calcium in the ZrO/sub 2/-CaO system. The difference was established in the chemical composition of the body of specimens and of surface layers. The maximum of electrical conductivity of zirconium dioxide containing 10-13 mol.% CaO is caused by processes occurring in the body of the specimens - the interaction of cubic and tetragonal structures that induces energy fluctuations in the anion sublattice.
