Abstract
This handbook aims to provide guidance on the design of systems to handle and transport slurries and to give comprehensive information on slurry properties and flow behaviour. Contributions to the book have been made by engineers in the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia who are active in the design of slurry systems. The 29 chapters are divided into 8 sections headed: slurry properties; analysis and prediction of flow behaviour; experimental techniques and pilot-plant studies; pumps and feeding systems; mechanical design of pipelines; instrumentation and control; preparation, storage and recovery; long-distance slurry transport projects. Two appendices on units are included.5 chapters making reference to coal slurry have been abstracted separately.
