Proceedings of the 9th international northern research basins symposium/workshop

Abstract

A symposium was conducted on four general themes related to northern hydrologic basins: monitoring of hydrologic processes for climate change detection, energy balance and modelling, environmental effects of river ice, and surface hydrologic database management and quality control. Papers were presented on snow and ice modelling, glaciers, freezing and thawing of soil, river ice motion, basin evaporation, wetlands, environmental database development, snow melting, ice jamming, carbon dynamics, data analysis for climate change, effects of climate change on water resources and hydrology, seasonal heat balance, metal attenuation in drainage systems, relocation of ions in snow, flow measurements, hydropower potential, and snow cover measurement. Separate abstracts have been prepared for 21 papers from this symposium.
