Energy-saving architecture as experienced in the framework of an excursion

Abstract

Various illustrations facilitate access to different architectural solutions to problems of energy conservation in building construction. Figures given on successful measures in different types of buildings (clay, glass) are followed by an account of theoretical studies and a description of the solar orientation of buildings. Reference is made to house-in-house systems (cheese covers), attached greenhouses, and energy balances (climates, energy consumption, solar residential buildings, control of microclimates). The report concludes with a description of the structural and functional features of glass houses, remarks on the control of energy consumption, and an account of achitectural efforts going into energy conservation in the field of town construction.
