Abstract

JET is the joint European project to build a large thermonuclear fusion device at a side in Berkshire, England. This book traces the background leading up to the project. The author details the practical setting-up of the operation, from technical and financial aspects through the problems encountered in every such joint European effort. The final design decisions are summarized and the programmes of construction and operation are fully described. (author). figs.; photos; tabs.
