Abstract
The described, innovative NDT method of the laser-induced thermowave analysis, also called laser-induced microthermography, permits the 3D imaging of thermal characteristics with high axial and lateral resolution. The results show that the method is suitable for the quality control of coatings and yields information on thickness, thermal homogeneity and adhesion as well as valuable additional information, as compared to conventional metallography.
