The address deals with the whole economic development, especially in the field of the electrotechnical industry, whose technologies reached a production increase of 12,9% in 1985 and a sales increase of 14,7%, in comparison with 1984, with total sales of 152,7 billions DM in th whole of Germany. Concerning questions dealing with energy policy, the author refers to the consequences arising from the reactor accident at Chernobyl. It is necessary to ensure power supplies which are environmentally sound, cheap, and which provide us with nuclear energy, guaranteeing the highest possible safety standard. Furthermore, provisions for energy conservation and for the development of new energy technologies are also of great importance. (HSCH).
