Influence of nitride and carbide coatings on the wear resistance of helical drill bits

Abstract

The optimized deposition of TiC, VN, ZrN, and CrN coatings on helical drill bits using high-energy vacuum-plasma accelerators is described. It is shown that these coatings are successful in increasing the wear resistance of helical drill bits when the latter are used at cutting velocities of 15-40 m/min under axial loads of 300-500 N.
