Salicyladehyde 4-methoxybenzoylhydrazone and diacetylbis(4-methoxybenzoylhydrazone) as ligands for tin, lead and zirconium

Abstract

The synthesis and characterisation of tin(II), tin(IV), organotin(IV), lead(II), organolead(IV), zirconium(IV) and organozirconium(IV), complexes with two new ligands salicylaldehyde 4-methoxybenzoyl hydrazone and diacetylbis(4-methoxybenzoyl hydrazone) (abbreviated to (H/sub 2/)SMBHON and (H/sub 2/)DAMBHON, respectively) are described. Some reactions of isolated Sn(DAMBHON)Cl/sub 2/, with MeSH, SiMe/sub 2/(NMe/sub 2/), C/sub 6/H/sub 5/CH/sub 2/SiMe/sub 2/ and p-MeSiC/sub 6/H/sub 4/SiMe/sub 2/ are discussed. The complexes isolated have been characterised by elemental analyses, molar conductance values, molecular weights and spectroscopic (uv-visible, ir and /sup 1/H nmr) data. 24 refs., 2 tables.
