Effect of radiotherapy on some indices of volemia in gastric cancer patients

Abstract

The volume of circulating blood and its components using /sup 131/I-albumin was determined in 59 patients with malignant tumors. The absolute content of blood protein and hemoglobin was also estimated. A comparative analysis of estimated and actual initial indices of volemia has shown a moderately marked hypovolemia and a considerable deficit of the erythrocyte and hemoglobin volume. Volemic disturbances depend on a gastric tumor site. The erythrocyte and hemoglobin volume was significantly decreased in patients with tumors of the pyloric part of the stomach.
