Abstract
On request of regional environmental authorities, deposition of acidifying compounds was monitored by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, IVL. The purpose of the monitoring programme is to quantify sulphur and nitrogen deposition to forests, and to illustrate possible acidification of the soil. Deposition is investigated as precipitation studies in open field areas and as throughfall. Soil water chemistry in the forest stands is used as indicator of soil conditions. Air concentrations of sulphur and nitrogen dioxide, ammonia, and ozone are measured at some locations. National and international standard methods are used. This report concerns the hydrological year from October 1995 through September 1996 in eight countries in Southern Sweden 18 refs, 50 figs, 9 tabs
