Where do we stand. Stocktaking in industrial policy

Abstract

Crisis management by the state on the steel sector to be replaced by private initiatives is discussed. Special burden on German industry due to profit-independent taxation; public services 20% more expensive by comparison with private industry; and reduced competitive force of German industry are also discussed. Energy policy results in hopeless backlog requiring reorientation and political developments in West Germany will depend largely on economic developments.
