Abstract
The collection of logging residue is slow and difficult since the orientation of branches is poor. To ease the handling, branches are orientated in-line with each other and tops with guiding devices attached to the harvester head of single-grip harvester. In trials quite satisfactory results have been achieved. Orientation of branches is good enough and in later trial runs make the guiding device will be made mechanically stronger. In off-road transport no advantage of using guiding device was noticed. However, if the methods of loading are changed, the result might be better. In future also the effect of guiding-device-made felling to the productivity of Chipset-terrain-chipper will be tested. (orig.)
