The Hospital wastes in the Basilea Conference; Los residuos hospitalarios en la convencion de Basilea

Abstract

The Basel Convention is first and foremost a global international legal instrument wich aims at the protection of the environment and human health from the adverse effects of the generation, storage, transport, treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes. In its Preamble, the Convention recognizes the risk of damage to human health and the environment caused by hazardous wastes and other wastes and their transboundary movements, as well as the growing threat posed by the increased generation of such wastes.
