Biosurfactant. Biosurfactant

Abstract

Applications of biosurfactants have been investigated not only in the field of fine chemicals but also in the medical field concerning pharmacological activity and medicines, laying stress on surface active materials in organism. Microbial biosurfactants are mainly outlined from the viewpoint of fine chemicals or speciality chemicals. Discussion is made also on chemical modification for surfactant and amphiphilic fluorescence dye. Microbe utilization technology can be applied effectively and efficiently for the research and development of biosurfactants. Biosurfactants with emphasis placed on those of microbe-origin are grouped by chemical structure. Chemical synthesis is possible by imitating the chemical structures of already-known biosurfactants. Outlines are given on the characteristics and surface control function of biosurfactant as well as on new functional dyes derived from biosurfactants. 42 refs., 5 figs., 5 tabs.
