Mine backfill design and testing

Abstract

Outlines a general approach to mine backfill design including laboratory testing procedures. Discusses relationships between certain design parameters and effect of other factors. Concludes that inclusion of backfill design calculations at an early stage of mine design can often produce over-all economies. Data applies not only to backfill plant and tailings disposal area design but also to the pillar recovery method and over-all mine stability
