Dust control in headings in the 1 Maja black coal mine by means of combined ventilation with dust collectors. Zwalczanie zapylenia w wyrobiskach korytarzowych KWK 1 Maja za pomoca wentylacji kombinowanej z odpylaczem

Abstract

Describes implementation of a dust control system in the 1 Maja coal mine. The IO-600Ch dust control installation and ventubes with a diameter of 800 mm and an automatic flap valve were purchased, crews were trained and the installation was assembled underground. Operation principle of the combined ventilation is described. Five roadways were driven in the 1 Maja mine. They were all equipped with the IO-600Ch/U/1 modified ventilation. Measurements of concentrations of total and respirable dusts in upper and lower ripside galleries, at the operator's stand and 10 m behind the dust collector are provided. Concentrations of respirable dusts were 2.4-3.6 mg/m[sup 3] at the operator's stand and 2.7-3.1 mg/m[sup 3] 10 m behind the dust collector. The installations allowed dust concentrations to be reduced to the 1st degree of hazard or even to permissible levels.
