Abstract
Corrosion is a generalized phenomenon harming metals that is enhanced in certain environments such as waste water treatment companies (EDAR) where the damp, the presence of certain gases and the variety of metals used heightens this phenomenon. A description is provided of the different types of corrosion (chemical and electrochemical) their classification according to the environment and the form they take, their characteristics, speed, polarization effects and galvanic corrosion. 17 refs.
