Process chemistry of neptunium

Abstract

Research progress is reported on the recovery of neptunium from reprocessing of irradiated uranium. Areas considered are: use of vanadium(V) for oxidation of Np(V) to Np(VI); path of neptunium under partitioning column conditions; co-stability of Np(IV) and Pu(IV); and extraction of Np(IV) by tricaprylmethylammonium nitrate.
