The influence of irradiation defects on tritium release from Li{sub 2}O

Abstract

During reactor irradiation of Li{sub 2}O defects are introduced by neutrons, triton and helium ions produced by {sup 6}Li(n, {alpha}){sup 3}H reactions and {gamma}-rays. Simultaneous measurements of luminescence emission and tritium release were performed under various conditions (temperature, sweep gas chemical composition) for Li{sub 2}O single crystal and polycrystal in order to elucidate possible influence of defects on tritium release.
