Abstract
In this presentation different methods to improve extinction of the earth fault arc in the medium voltage network and reducing the short interruptions to customers are discussed. First the disadvantages of the rapid autoreclosing functions to customers are studied. Then the influence of the star point impedance to the number of short interruptions is discussed. Finally, the feasibility of utilizing shunt circuit-breakers in the Finnish MV networks to extinguish the arc, is studied
