Experimental investigation of the neutron physics characteristics of the Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor

Abstract

The investigation of the neutron physics characteristics of the Dalat Reactor has obtained the results as follows: 1/ The effective fraction of delayed photoneutrons and the extraneous neutron source left after reactor shut down are measured. 2/ The lowest power levels of critical states of the reactor are determined. 3/The perturbation effect is investigated when a water column or a plexiglass rod is substituted for a fuel element. 4/ The relative axial and radial distributions of the thermal neutrons measured and the geometrical parameters of the core such as the inhomogeneous coefficients, the buckling, the effective height and radius, the extrapolated distances are obtained. 4/ The thermal neutron distributions are measured around the old graphite reflector.
