Atmospheric deposition of nitrogen. Aqueous environment monitoring program 1995. Main report; Atmosfaerisk deposition af kvaelstof. Vandmiljoeplanens overvaagningsprogram 1995. Hovedrapport

Abstract

This report presents the results from the Danish monitoring programme from 1989 to 1995. Concentrations of nitrogen compounds in the atmosphere and the wet deposition of nitrogen species are measured. Measurements are supplemented by model calculations of the same species. The report consists of a main report where selected data are presented and discussed and an appendix report where all data relevant for Monitoring Programme of the Sea are presented. Furthermore, a support report is made, which presents technical background material. This year the theme is deposition of nitrogen compounds to Danish fjords, creeks and bays. For this reason model calculations have been performed not only for the open sea but for first time also for fjords, creeks and bays. The model calculations were compared with the model calculations in the EMEP-model. Though the EMEP-model does not take into account the special parametrization necessary over the sea, the EMEP-model gives a deposition of nitrogen to the open sea between 0,4 and 1 ton N/km{sup 2} and between 1 and 2 ton N/km{sup 2} for coastal areas. These results are in general in good agreement with the results obtained in this report. (EG) 13 refs.
