Abstract
The Danish air pollution monitoring program is presented in connection with dry and wet deposition of nitrogen. Sources of nitrogen emission, chemical reactions, deposition of nitrates and other nitrogen compounds as well as vertical and horizontal transport of the latter are discussed. The structure of the ACDEP model (Atmospheric Chemistry and Deposition), used in calculations of nitrogen compound concentration in atmosphere, is described. This model, developed in connection with marine research programs, is useful for a better geographic coverage of fiord and coastal regions than it can be expected by means of monitoring data alone.
