Abstract
The covered conductors and the aerial bundled cables (abc) for overhead distribution systems 15 kV systems, has been a good solution for the main brazilian electrical utilities when applied in areas with to limited space on poles and to satisfy the performance claimed in tree areas or narrow streets, focusing people safety and electrical service continuity. Otherwise, in this work it is presented that these cables show failures that can be related to the solid isolants used. It is showed the laboratory tests results to characterize its thermal and electric behaviour and an application of the Finite Element Method through the software Flux 2 d was done. The results obtained showed the requirements to be demanded through the specification and proposals elements to change the standard. (author) 57 refs., 20 figs., 73 tabs.
