Abstract
The Swiss cement producer Jura-Cement Fabriken recently entrusted Krupp Polysius with the modernization of their N.5 kiln line to meet the new air pollution regulations reducing the NOx limit value to 800 mg/Nm{sup 3}. The other objectives of this modernization were the stabilisation of kiln operation, maximum flexibility, particularly regarding the use of new secondary fuels, increased kiln output and improved energy efficiency. The technical solution consisted in installing a MSC calciner which enables multi-stage combustion, using tertiary air and maintaining the tyre feed system at the kiln inlet. (author)
