Abstract

The Hahn-Meitner Institute for Nuclear Research has produced short-lived radionuclides for medical and scientific purposes in the West Berlin area since 1960. Production now covers, the nuclides commonly used in medical applications, such as Na{sup 25}, K{sup 42} and Au{sup 198}, and other outstanding nuclides such as Cu{sup 64}, Zn{sup 69m} and F{sup 18}; Na{sup 24} and K{sup 42}are produced by neutron irradiation of the chlorides and, after calibration, distributed as solid material; Au{sup 198} is irradiated in metallic form, which is suitable for implantation in cancer therapy; F{sup 18} is produced by the reaction 0{sup 16} (t, n) and irradiation of LiNO{sub 3}. The separation of F{sup 18} by ion exchange showed better results than those usually given in the literature. For the production of Cu{sup 64} and Zn{sup 69m} special electrolytic methods have been developed to extract the radionuclides produced by a Szilard- Chalmers reaction on the phthalocyanines. Both nuclides have found application in medical diagnostics. In the paper details are given of irradiation facilities and techniques, production methods and apparatus, essay and calibration of the radionuclides produced and production capacity. L'Institut prepare maintenant des nucleides utilises couramment en medecine tels que {sup 25}Na, {sup 42}K et {sup 198}Au, ainsi que quelques autres nucleides moins usuels comme {sup 64}Cu, {sup 69m}Zn et {sup 18}F. Le sodium-24 et le potassium-42 sont produits par irradiation neu- tronique des chlorures et distribues sous forme solide apres etalonnage. L'or-198 est irradie sous forme metallique, utilisable pour les implantations dans le traitement du cancer. Le fluor-18 est produit par la reaction {sup 16}0 (t, n) et par irradiation de LiNO{sub 3}. La separation de {sup 18}F par echange d'ions a donne de meilleurs resultats que ceux qui sont habituellement mentionnes dans les publications specialisees. Pour la production de {sup 64}Cu et de {sup 69m}Zn, les auteurs ont mis au point des methodes electrolytiques speciales qui permettent d'extraire les radionucleides produits par une reaction Szilard-Chalmers sur les phtalocyanines. Les deux nucleides ont pu etre utilises pour le diagnostic medical. Le memoire donne des renseignements detailles sur les installations et les procedes d'irradiation, les methodes et appareils de production, l'analyse et l'etalonnage des radionucleides produits et la capacite de production. (author) [Spanish] En 1960, el Instituto Hahn-Meitner de investigaciones nucleares, situado en Berlin occidental, empezo a producir radionuclidos de periodo corto para fines medicos y cientificos. La produccion actual comprende nuclidos utilizados con frecuencia en medicina tales como el {sup 25}Na, {sup 42}K, {sup 198}Au, asi como el {sup 64}Cu, {sup 69m}Z y {sup 18}F. El {sup 24}Na y el {sup 42}K se obtienen por irradiacion neutronica de los cloruros y, una vez calibrados, se suministran en forma de solidos. El {sup 198}Au se obtiene por irradiacion del metal y puede emplearse directamente para implantaciones en el tratamiento del cancer. El {sup 18}F se obtiene por la reaccion {sup 16}0 (t, n) y por irradiacion del LiNO{sub 3}. La separacion del {sup 18}F por intercambio ionico dio resultados mas favorables que los que se citan generalmente en la bibliografia. En la produccion de {sup 64}Cu y {sup 69m}Zn, se han perfeccionado metodos electroliticos especiales para extraer los radionuclidos obtenidos por una reaccion de Szilard-Chalmers aplicada a ftalocianinas. Ambos nuclidos han encontrado aplicaciones en el diagnostico medico. La memoria da detalles sobre las instalaciones de irradiacion y las tecnicas empleadas, los metodos de produccion y los aparatos, el analisis y la calibracion de los radionuclidos obtenidos, asi como sobre la capadidad de produccion del citado Instituto. V nastojashhee vremja proizvodjatsja izotopy, primenjaemye obychno v medicine, takie, kak Na{sup 25}, K{sup 42}, Au{sup 198}, a takzhe nekotorye menee rasprostranennye, kak Cu{sup 64}, Zn{sup 69m} i F{sup 18}. Na{sup 24} i K{sup 42} byli polucheny v rezul'tate nejtronnogo obluchenija hloridov i razoslany posle kalibrovki v vide tverdyh veshhestv. Au1 Registered-Sign 8, obluchennyj v forme metalla, upotrebljaetsja dlja implantacii pri lechenii raka. F{sup 19} poluchaetsja v rezul'tate reakcii O{sup 16} (t, n) i obluchenija LiNO{sub 3} Otdelenie F{sup 16} pri pomoshhi ionnogo obmena dalo luchshie rezul'taty, chem opisyvaemye obychno v literature metody. Dlja proizvodstva Cu{sup 64} i Zn{sup 89m} byl razrabotan special'nyj metod jelektroliza dlja jekstragirovanija izotopov, poluchennyh pri pomoshhi reakcii Scilard-Hal'mersa s ftalocianinami. Oba jeti izotopa nahodjat primenenie v medicinskoj diagnostike. Privodjatsja podrobnye dannye otnositel'no oborudovanija i tehniki obluchenija, sposobov proizvodstva i apparatury, kalibrovki poluchennyh izotopov i proizvoditel'noj sposobnosti. (author)}
