Abstract

The neutron spectrometer described in the paper is intended for measurements of the angular and energy distribution of monochromatic slow neutrons, inelasticaily scattered by liquid and solid bodies. Experiments of this type permit detailed information to be obtained concerning the dynamics of the atoms in various aggregate states of a substance. The spectromeeter is based on the time-of-flight method. The pulse source of neutrons is the IBR (1) reactor. A mechanical interrupter, rotating synchronously with the disc of the IBR and having a prescribed phase shift, serves as the monochromator. A special phasing system ensures a phasee stability better than 0.5{sup o}. The neutrons scattered by the sample are recorded by a scintillation detector set at a given angle to the neutron beam. The resolving power of the spectrometer is - 15 {mu}s/m. The paper gives a detailed description of the construction of the spectroscope and its characteristics. (author) [Spanish] Los autores describen un espectrometro neutronico destinado a la medicion de las distribuciones energeticas y angulares de neutrones monocromaticos lentos, dispersados inelasticamente en Iliquidos y solidos. Los experimentos de esa indole permiten obtener informacion detallada sobre la dinamica de los atomos en distintos estados de agregacion de la materia. El espectrometro se basa en la medida del tiempo de vuelo. Como fuente pulsante de neutrones se emplea el reactor IBR-1. Actua como monocromador un interruptor mecanico, que gira sincronicamente con el disco del reactor IBR con uen defasaje prefijado. Mediante un sistema especial de regulacion se obtiene una estabilidad de fase superior a 0,5{sup o}. Los neutrones dispersados por la probeta se registran con un detector de centelleo colocado en un angulo determinado con relacion al haz neutronico. Bi poder de resolucion del espectrometro es del orden de los 15 {mu}s/m. Los autores describen en detalle la construccion del espectrometro y proporcionan indicaciones precisas sobre sus caracteristicas. (author)}
