Abstract

The authors show the development of the water-indicator method, and the use of artificial and natural tritium for the study of underground-water movement. Two possible types of liquid movement on a seam were established : water seepage through the more pervious sections of the seam at speeds of 10-30 m/d; and the advance of the basic contour of pumped water on a relatively uniform part of the seam at a speed of 2 m/d. The latter movement corresponds to the movement speeds (1.9 to 2.2 m/d) calculated theoretically for a uniform seam. It is possible to estimate the flow quantitatively in movement of the first and second types. A method has been evolved for observing with tritium, water communication between the separate intercalations of the productive stratum of a petroleum seam. A new method is proposed for controlling the exploitation of petroleum deposits by means of the natural tritium contained in surface water pumped into the seam both inside and outside the contour. The slow contour movement in large petroleum deposits with a sparse well-network can be studied over long periods (about 10 yr). A supersensitive apparatus has been evolved for measuring tritium in surface waters with liquid-filled standardized counters, and can be obtained by most industrial organizations. (author) [French] Le memoire decrit la mise au point de la methode consistant a employer les indicateurs et notamment le tritium artificiel et naturel pour l'etude du mouvement des nappes d'eau souterraines. Les auteurs ont pu etudier deux mouvements differents du liquide se trouvant dans une nappe petrolifere: infiltration de l'eau a travers les couches les plus permeables a des vitesses de 10 a 30 m par jour, et deplacement, a une vitesse de 2 m par jour, de la ligne de niveau de l'eau apres pompage dans une partie relativement homogene de la nappe. Ce deuxieme type de mouvement correspond aux valeurs obtenues par calcul theorique des vitesses de mouvement (1,9 a 2,2 m par jour) pour une nappe homogene. Une evaluation quantitative du debit est possible tant pour le mouvement clu premier que pour celui du deuxieme type. Les auteurs ont elabore une methode permettant d'observer, au moyen d'eau tritiee, les transferts d'eau entre les diverses separations de la couche productive de la nappe petrolifere. Le memoire propose une nouvelle methode pouvant servir pour l'exploitation des gisements de petrole et utilisant le tritium naturel contenu dans les eaux de surface injectees par pompage dans la nappe, a l'interieur et a l'exterieur de la ligne de niveau. Dans les grands gisements petroliferes ou les puits sont peu nombreux, cette methode permet d'etudier le mouvement lent de la ligne de niveau sur une longue periode (de l'ordre de 10 ans). D'apres les quantites de tritium qui se desintegrent dans l'eau qui se trouve sous la couche de petrole, dans les puits d'exploitation, il est possible de determiner les temps et les vitesses du mouvement de la ligne de niveau de l'eau avec une precision de {+-} 1 an. Se han observado dos tipos posibles de desplazamiento del liquido contenido en un estrato: infiltracion del agua a traves de los sectores mas permeables del estrato, a velocidades comprendidas entre 10 y 30 m por dia, y avance del contorno basico de agua bombeada en una parte relativamente homogenea del estrato, a una velocidad de 2 m por dia. Este ultimo desplazamiento corresponde a las velocidades (1,9 a 2,2 m por dia) calculadas teoricamente para un estrato homogeneo. Es posible evaluar cuantitativamente el flujo en los desplazamientos de ambos tipos. Se ha ideado un metodo que emplea tritio para observar la comunicacion entre las aguas presentes en los distintos sectores intercalados en el estrato productivo de una vena petrolifera. Los autores proponen un metodo nuevo para controlar la explotacion de yacimientos petroliferos gracias al tritio natural contenido en las aguas superficiales inyectadas en el estrato, tanto en el interior como en el exterior del contorno. El lento desplazamiento del contorno de yacimientos petroliferos grandes, en los que se hayan realizado pocas perforaciones, puede ser estudiado durante periodos largos (unos 10 anos). De la cantidad de tritio desintegrado que contenga el agua subyacente a 1a. capa petrolifera de un pozo en explotacion pueden deducirse los tiempos y velocidades de desplazamiento del agua de contorno con una exactitud de {+-} 1 ano. Basta un numero reducido de analisis (no mas de 300 a 500 analisis por ano en un gran yacimiento) para seguir el desplazamiento del contorno. Se ha ideado un aparato sumamente sensible para medir el tritio en las aguas superficiales con contadores contrastados llenos de liquido.
