Abstract

The composite of Agl{sub 0}.5(Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 has been prepared via solid state reaction, by mixing of Agl with {beta}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} powders. The mixture was compacted with diametre 1.5 cm and pressure 5 ton. The composite of Agl{sub 0}.5(Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 was irradiated with the value of 10 kGy, and 50 kGy, respectively. After irradiation, the crystal structure of Agl{sub 0}.5({beta}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 was measured by X-ray diffraction. The conductivity of Agl{sub 0}.5({beta}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 was measured by LCR-metre at the frequency between 0.1 Hz until 100 kHz, while the hardness value was used by Vickers. The result from X-ray diffraction show that the structure of Agl{sub 0}.5(Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 is correspond with phase of {gamma}-Agl, with the parameter is 6.52 Angstrom. The conductivities value of Agl{sub 0}.5({beta}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 0}.5 before irradiation is between 0.11 x 10{sup -5} S/cm to 0.13 x 10{sup -5} S/cm, and after irradiation is between 0.31 x 10{sup -6} S/cm to 0.61 x 10{sup -6} S/cm.
