Abstract
Efficient oil-fuelled high-efficiency boilers can reduce both primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Further reductions can be achieved by integrating renewable energy sources. This is possible even today with auxiliary solar thermal power systems combined with oil heating systems. The effect could be even more pronounced with bio-heating oil. The mineral oil industry and the heating industry are making joint efforts to develop a heating oil with a bio-component. (orig.)
