Recent research on the pharmaceutical checking of radioelements (1961); Etudes recentes sur le controle pharmaceutique des radioelements (1961)

Abstract

Checking on radioactive preparations for medical use is complicated by difficulties due to the radioactivity, the instability and the methods of using these solutions. In effect it is necessary, in order to draw up a practicable set of rules governing such checks, to know both the method of preparation and the properties of the radioelement, as well as special and often contradictory features of its use. These tests fall into three categories: physical, chemical and biological. Preparations of chromium 51, iron 59 and arsenic 76 have been dealt with in recent studies. In each case special tests were necessary, and these will be described in this paper. The practice of these tests is of twofold interest: firstly they provide a maximum guarantee to the user, and secondly they guide the chemist in his manipulations, immediately and thoroughly.
