Abstract
On november 22, 1950, in the course of the formal beginning of term ceremony, the University of Strasbourg was pleased to confer on Professor VENING-MEINESZ the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa. In his speech of acknowledgement, Professor VENING-MEINESZ paid tribute to the fact that his colleague, Edmond ROTHE, had created at Strasbourg a centre of radio-geological research and during his visit to the Institute of Terrestrial Physics, the scholar whom we are honouring today expressed an interest in the new measurements that I was able to show him. I am happy to offer to him in homage some results of a systematic study of radioactivity of the Hercynian Vosges.
