Abstract

The Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) groups the Directorate General for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (DGSNR), reporting to the Ministries for Health, Environment and Industry, and the devolved services of the State on which it relies for nuclear safety and radiation protection supervision, primarily DRIRE, DRASS and DDASS. The main topic of 2004, discussed in this report are: nuclear Safety and Transparency bill, shaping the new ASN, setting up inspection of non-BNI nuclear activities, Radiation protection and monitoring of patients, the safety of the EPR reactor project, the national plan for radioactive waste management, the future of high-level long-lived waste, harmonizing nuclear safety in Europe and ASN international involvement.
