A new relationship for the experimental-analytical solution of the axisymmetric thermoelasticity problem

Abstract

The following inverse problem of axisymmetric thermoelasticity is considered: stresses {sigma}{sub z} and {sigma}{sub {tau}}{sub z} are determined experimentally but the temperature distribution is not known; the stresses {sigma}{sub {tau}} and {sigma}{sub {theta}} are to be determined. By eliminating temperature from the compatibility equations and using the equilibrium equations, a new relationship between the stress components for the axisymmetric thermoelasticity problem has been derived. Using this relationship, a closed form solution of the problem has been obtained. (orig.)
