On stabilization of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability for the imploding liner on account of ion-ion collisions

Abstract

The stabilization of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability for the imploding cylindrical liner in the limit of a low plasma density {pi} {omega}{sub pi}{sup 2}{delta}2/c2 << 1 ({delta} -- the characteristic size of the current layer) is investigated, when the electron currents are much greater than the ion currents. The stabilization of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability for the parameter diapason {nu}ii/{omega}Bi < (Z2M/m)1/2 is considered, when the plasma dissipation connected with the ion-ion collisions considerably superior the usual dissipation due to the electron-ion collisions. For the electric conductivity, caused by the ion-ion collisions and resulted in the minimum value {sigma} {approx} enc/B, the effect of the partial stabilization of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability is demonstrated.
