Observation of ion-ion instability in dusty plasmas

Abstract

Experiments on the ion-ion instability are performed in a dusty double plasma device. The spatial growth rate of the instability is reduced when glass beads are mixed in the plasma. From measured growth rates, the effective collision frequency for the instability is estimated.
