Systematic tests of the performance of the low pressure multi-wire proportional chamber

Abstract

The systematic tests of a low pressure multi-wire proportional chamber developed by ourself at low energy were performed. It is shown that at the best work condition the position resolution is better than 0.8 mm, the time resolution is better than 2 ns, and the detecting efficiency is nearly 100% at the low energy, so it is fit for the investigation of the radioactive ion beam.
