Abstract
Systematics of the beta decay Q values, single nucleon separation energies and the energy of the first excited state for even-even nuclei have been studied for unstable nuclei. Breaks in these systematics is indicative of new regions of shell closures at N=6, 16, 30, 32 and Z=16 for neutron rich nuclei. Shell gaps for proton rich nuclei are found to be same as for neutron rich nuclei00.
