Abstract
The critical current decreases remarkably with an inclination of the magnetic fluxes to Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 tapes. A vertical component of the magnetic flux inside the high temperature superconducting coil becomes larger at the coil's edge portions. This aggravates the current carrying performance of a coil. In this paper, we examined the achievement of a completely parallel field distribution inside the coil cross section by attaching a L-shaped magnetic disk at the coil's edge. In this way, the current carrying performance of a coil can be improved.
