Abstract
With the use of calculation experiment on the basis of solution of problems on continuum media mechanics by the finite element method the stress-strained state of metal in the process of continuous casting and cycling deformation of a slab billet is calculated as applied to manufacturing a 4x300 mm stainless sheet. The calculation results obtained testify that stress-strained state in a deformation zone is favorable. The metal is practically under conditions of all-round compression, and this fact ensures the manufacture of high-quality stainless steel sheets.
