Abstract

Kinetic and chemiluminescent parameters of U(IV) oxidation with xenon trioxide in 1 M H{sub 2}SO{sub 4} were studied in relation to complexing of U(IV) with SO{sub 4}{sup 2-} anions. The rate constant of sulfate complexes oxidation increases with increase in concentration of sulfate-ions in solution. The rate constant of reaction between U(SO{sub 4}){sub 2} and XeO{sub 3} is higher by an order of magnitude than the rate of U(IV) monosulfate complex oxidation. The dependence of excited uranyl ions lifetime on Na{sub 2}SO{sub 4} concentration in 1 M HClO{sub 4} was measured. It was assumed that chemiluminescence yield increases in the presence of sulfate anions owing to growth of both emission output of excited uranyl sulfate complexes and excitation yield of chemiluminescence emitter.
