Abstract
The dehydration of {alpha}-fenchyl alcohol and {alpha}-iso-fenchyl alcohol is studied in detail: two new techniques (chromatography on silica with silver nitrate, and nuclear magnetic resonance) permit to analyse the formation of various fenchenes and to achieve the synthesis of {alpha}- and {beta}-fenchenes.
