Abstract

With a view to applying the results to certain problems related to chemical separations in activation analysis, a study has been made, of the possibilities of separating the alkaline-earth elements Ca, Sr and Ba on organic resins and inorganic exchangers using the radioactive indicator method. The partition coefficients of the cations Ca{sup 2+}, Sr{sup 2+} and Ba{sup 2+} have been measured on Dowex 50 W (NH{sub 4}{sup +}) x 8 resin in the presence of EDTA - NTA - EGTA and DCTA as complexing agents, and on zirconium phosphate, tungstate and molybdate in the presence of HCl and NH{sub 4}Cl. Methods have been developed for separating mixtures of alkaline-earth elements using DCTA-NH{sub 4}{sup +} followed by elution on Dowex 50 W (NH{sub 4}{sup +}) x 8 resin columns and on zirconium phosphate. Amongst the complexing agents used on the ion-exchange resins the most promising appears to be DCTA which leads to partition coefficients Ca, Sr and Ba which are very different. The results of measurements of partition coefficients on zirconium phosphate (NH{sub 4}{sup +} form) using DCTA-NH{sub 4}{sup +} show the interesting possibilities of separations on columns. (author) [French] En vue de l'application a certains problemes de separations chimiques en analyse par activation, on a etudie les possibilites de separation des elements alcalino-terreux Ca-Sr et Ba sur resine organique et sur echangeurs mineraux par la methode des indicateurs radioactifs. Les coefficients de partage des cations Ca{sup +2}, Sr{sup +2} et Ba{sup +2} sur resine Dowex 50 W (NH{sub 4}{sup +}) x 8 en milieux complexants EDTA - NTA - EGTA et DCTA et sur phosphate, tungstate et molybdate de zirconium en milieu HCl et NH{sub 4}Cl ont ete mesures. Des methodes de separation par elution sur colonne de resine Dowex 50 W (NH{sub 4}{sup +}) x 8 et sur phosphate de zirconium du melange des elements alcalino-terreux en milieu DCTA-NH{sub 4}{sup +} ont ete mises au point. En milieux complexants sur resine echangeuse d'ions, le DCTA s'est revele le plus interessant, car les coefficients de partage des elements Ca-Sr et Ba sont tres differents les uns des autres. Les mesures des coefficients de partage sur phosphate de zirconium (forme NH{sub 4}{sup +}) en milieu DCTA - NH{sub 4}{sup +} montrent des possibilites interessantes de separation sur colonne. La separation des elements alcalino-terreux sur phosphate de zirconium semble etre moins quantitative que sur resine Dowex 50, mais par contre elle est beaucoup plus rapide, ce qui peut etre interessant lorsque l'on travaille sur des radioisotopes de courte periode en analyse par activation.
