Abstract
The advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are often studied by numerous researchers in the world for the application field of the drinking water and wastewaters treatment. This particular interest for such a research is explained here, on the one hand, by the low possibilities and (often) negative effects of traditional oxidants (especially chlorine), and on the other, by the AOP possibility to produce large amount of hydroxyl radical which is a very strong oxidant. The principles of some AOPs are presented, insisting on those using ozone and/or hydrogen peroxide. The efficiency of AOPs is illustrated by a lot of examples of our research works, and by a summarized presentation of industrial applications. (author)
