Abstract

With an objective to help improve the business creation supporting environment in Japan, investigations were performed on cases of advanced business creation supporting infrastructures, centering on the United States. The activity results were put into order in the following six fields: 1) creator support and incubators in the United States, 2) the current status of incubators in the United States, 3) support on creation by universities and research institutions, 4) advantages of industry-academia cooperation on creation support, 5) international cooperation in the state of Pennsylvania with other countries, and 6) conclusion. In Item 6), the evolution of the incubator concept in the United States, roles of incubators in areas in which general business creation infrastructures have matured, creator support by universities and education organizations, and matters expected on incubators were summarized. Based on the summarisation, four items were proposed, including structuring of the Japanese type business creation infrastructures to structure a fusion and circulation model for the Japanese type business creation support and economic development, and district economy development under the initiative of business communities.
