Abstract
This is a study of an inverter circuit for an uninterrupted power supply for computers. A single phase inverter bridge, which uses power transistors and high frequency switching is used (6 khz). To control the load voltage and to reduce the harmonics amplitudes a control circuit is used. This control circuit uses the pulse width modulation technique. Two kinds of PWM systems are shown: first an optimized modulation, characterized by the elimination of certain number of harmonics and second a sinusoidal modulation characterized by the high switching frequency and by the reduction of low order harmonics. With those two kinds of modulation, the study of an L C filter connected to the inverter output is done in order to reduce the harmonics with are in the load. The base drive circuits and their switching power supply studies are shown. Finally a 500 Watt prototype was realized and tested with inductive and resistive load. (author)
